On 22-24 November 2019, the 3rd international conference of the BDÜ Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators took place in Bonn. The motto of the conference was "Translating and Interpreting 4.0. New Paths in the Digital Age".
As a member of the programme committee and chief interpreter it was my task to head a team of 16 conference interpreters and coordinate teamwork (and a case of sudden illness) in the former plenary chamber of the German Bundestag. The VKD colleagues volunteered to interpret 12 slots involving lectures and discussions simultaneously into German and English. Part of the extensive conference programme included the award ceremony of the Hieronymus Prize for exemplary achievements in the field of multilingual communication and of the first Dr. Stanisław Gierlicki Prize to give recognition to members who have made outstanding contributions on an honorary basis to the BDÜ Federal Association's work.
